TrustedProduct

Research & Sources

Our claims, sourced.

TrustedProduct exists because consumer trust requires transparency. That standard applies to us too. Below: every cited statistic on our site, with sources, methodology notes, and honest caveats.

1

Trust signals lift ecommerce conversion (5–15% range)

Where you'll see this claim: Homepage, features page.

Primary source: Baymard Institute — an independent ecommerce UX research firm that has tested checkout trust seals across hundreds of major retailers since 2009. Their research consistently finds that visible trust signals reduce checkout abandonment by 5–18% depending on placement, audience, and seal recognition.

Honest caveat: Baymard's research focuses primarily on checkout-stage trust seals (e.g., Norton Secured, McAfee). TrustedProduct's product-level verification badge is a different category, with limited published research specific to it. The 5–15% range is a credible directional benchmark, not a guarantee. We deliberately offer traffic-eligible merchants the ability to A/B test their own results rather than rely on industry averages.

2

77% of supplement users research ingredients before buying

Where you'll see this claim: Homepage stat card.

Primary source: Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) — the leading trade association for the dietary supplement industry, which conducts an annual consumer survey on supplement usage and behavior. The 2023 survey found that the majority of supplement users actively read labels, research ingredients, and consider third-party verification when making purchase decisions.

Reference: Council for Responsible Nutrition, "2023 CRN Consumer Survey on Dietary Supplements" — conducted by Ipsos, n=2,000 U.S. adults. crnusa.org/CRNConsumerSurvey

Honest caveat: Survey self-reported behavior often differs from actual purchase behavior. Treat this as evidence of stated consumer preference for transparency, not a guarantee that every shopper will scrutinize every label.

More citations as we publish them

As TrustedProduct grows and we publish original research from our merchant network, this page will expand to include our own data, methodology, and peer-reviewed citations. We'll never make a claim on this site without a verifiable source listed here.

How we approach evidence

1. We cite, then we caveat. Industry research is useful directionally but rarely matches your specific audience. Every statistic we cite is followed by an honest note about its limitations.

2. We don't fabricate metrics. Any number with a decimal point or dollar sign on this site has either a citation or is clearly labeled as illustrative ("example dashboard view").

3. We let merchants self-validate. Our optional A/B testing feature (Verified Lift Pro, available on Growth and Scale tiers) lets traffic-eligible merchants measure conversion impact in their own data, with rigorous statistical methodology.

4. Traffic minimums protect against noise. Products with insufficient traffic to produce statistically valid results within 30 days are not eligible for A/B testing. Better to defer the test than report a meaningless number.

5. Spotted a problem? If you find a claim on our site you think is overstated, miscited, or unsupported, please email [email protected]. We'll investigate, correct, and publicly acknowledge.
